Let me correct you - there are also historians from Europe who are backing the Hindu claims of the ‘genocidal type' mass murder used to convert Hindus to Islam – in the subcontinent. As it is the Islamic conquers and thereafter the converted Indian leaders who recorded these atrocities, which they committed. Along with these conversions there was also a mass slave trade, coming out of India. Coincidently, it was many of the children of these converted slaves, who then fought to conquer more of India for Islam.
How do suppose that Islamic Kingdoms came to power in India?
Often these Kingdoms were prosperous, because of the Jizah tax (an Islamic tax on non-Muslims) collected from the large unconverted Hindu populations. And they wrote that it was in their interest, to keep a larger Hindu population for financial reasons, but this was not without pressure; to forcibility convert these Hindu populations from outside Islamic influences.
In Europe (and the West) we know the history of the Inquisition - and that is why Islam's Inquisition type behaviour has been largely rejected here. Though it seems that, what those in Islam wanted to do was to freely criticize all others, but not hear criticism of them selves.
Take the example of Rahman, a man who of own his free will chose to convert from Islam to Christianity, was to be face the death penalty. Goes to show that closely shadowing this ‘peace' Islam is meant to purvey - is a climate or an undercurrent of fear and repression - which has to stifle open questioning and real examination of the religion's constructs and history.
Much of what you believe about Islam's history borders on fairy tail and outright fantasy.
But Bin Laden brought Islam into the real world. Now when Islam does something - the world is watching.
As you say Europe has become enlightened, but this is perhaps what Islam fears most, the enlightening of its masses. And under this converting by way of the sword is no longer acceptable.
