ok, its 2006, anyone know what really happened?

I have searched Google , and after reading your comments on this site, I find this the best source of information about AA 587 Crash. So, here we are in the late stages of 2006, and I cannot find a definite answer about this event. Can anyone update me with some facts (please, no fiction )
