Witnesses

For years I've tried to follow all the relevant news about Flight 800 and 587. Since even the experts disagree whether it was terrorism or not; it's impossible ( for me ) to know the mechanics of what happened. But when we deny solid, credible witnesses with no motive for lying..something is wrong.
Why would dozens of witnesses put their veracity on the line to say they saw missle/missles strike flight 800?
And ditto for the witnesses who claim they saw 587 explode before the crash. I find it inconceivable that such people as policemen and other reliable people can't have their 'day in court' and have their stories laid out before the public. You know, I'll bet that if a really savy network were produce a special program letting each witness tell his/her story to the public their ratings would go through the roof!
