I agree, donvan...Reader comment on item: Democrats, Republicans, and Israel Submitted by J.S. (Canada), May 26, 2006 at 16:42 Your last point (the one about universities offering degrees in Quranic law, sharia, and so on) -- well, it's already available at some Canadian universities. And the attitude here (in academia) is that this is a wonderful thing...thus we have "profs" preaching at Canadian universities the merits of Islam and Shari'a law...Also, did you catch the article on "Teaching Johnny about Islam" posted at investors.com ? A court ruling in California allows students to pretend to be Muslim for up to two weeks (prayers, fasting at Ramadan, etc.) and not a peep from the ACLU (the same organization that wants to rid any mention of the Divine at schools or during a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. The hypocrisy is mind boggling...) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
