A Jewish Republican

I have been a Republican since college when I first started reading Ayn Rand. My first presidential vote was for Barry Goldwater. I have voted on occassion for a Democrat here and there, but not very often. Jewish loyalty to Democrats is something that is a carry over from my fathers generation, but seems to be waning.

I belong to the Rupublican party of Palm Beach County which has more Jewish members than I can ever recall being willing to admit their party affiliation in the past. There is a reservoir of Jewish voters whom the Republican party has not tapped into in the past. Many of them are ready to acknowledge the fact that their best hopes can be realized as Republicans. They need guidance and good solid reasons for that move, and not isolation as some other lost cause. Daniel Pipes is one voice, and we need many other responsible leaders to bring realism to the Jewish community.
