Saudi Money and the United States

Reader comment on item: What Riyadh Buys [in Washington]

Submitted by Arlinda DeAngelis (United States), Dec 12, 2002 at 09:17

Professor Pipes is, as usual, correct. Saudi money corrupts everything it touches.

I believe that there is a connection between the Bin Laden family flying out of the United States on September 11 and the United States government giving them a free pass to do so. Their private jet was the only plane allowed to fly on the day after the attack. The FBI spoke to the family for five minutes before take off. Although we have never had a full investigation of this outrageous act, it appears that permission was obtained from the White House.

The Saudis and their corruption taints everything in the Mid-East. Their "hate America and Israel" funded madrasas, their funding of terrorist groups and payoffs to homicide bombers in Israel, their corrupt funded charities paying off terrorists, their encouragement and funding of Wahhabism and their support for the oppression of women is disgusting, degrading and the antithesis of eveything freedom loving democracies embrace.

America obtains cheap oil from the Saudis in exchange for providing them with security. We must look for other means of energy and stop our dependence on foreign fossil fuels. President Bush should establish another Manhattan Project with the goal of developing sustainable renewable energy. This project should call together the best minds in our country, Israel and Great Britain working together to change the world's dependence on the corrupt oil-rich governments in the Middle East.

Professor Pipes is an articulate patriotic American whose voice is a beacon in these dark times.
