It is unbecoming of Dr PipesReader comment on item: Deterring Tehran Submitted by Yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), May 10, 2006 at 16:54 When push comes to shove, it seems even the eminent Dr Pipes prefers a Nuclear Iran to a response to a clear and present danger. Despite all evidence to the contrary Dr Pipes assumes that good sense will seize the Persian people by the scruff of the neck and shake the Nuclear madness out of their Islamized minds. When was the last time Islam exercised what you might call good Western sense? Never. When was the last time a Tyrant promised an end to the Jewish question, and killed millions? Not too long ago. There is the source of the stench. The clear and present danger seems to limited to Israel, the Little Devil. As long as Israel appears to be the prime, possibly the only target, no one is overly bothered. Talk and hope and diplomacy, sure, plenty of that. Germany leads the charge to let Iran off the hook, however imaginary that hook was. Action? Forget it. After all they are only jews, and if the Atomic Bomb wont get them, surely Hamas will, somewhat later. So in the end it is up to israel to live or die. If their warfare with hamas is anything to judge by, the preferrence appears to be Surrender and Death. But I could be wrong. Daniel Pipes replies: The writer seems to have overlooked a key sentence in my article: "I conclude, along with Senator John McCain, a Republican of Arizona, that 'There's only one thing worse than the United States exercising a military option. That is a nuclear-armed Iran'." Comment on this item
