Dear Dr Pipes, I agree with your reader Fragonard, Px when he says, "...Rushdie and the Mohamed cartoons are an indication that these efforts have hit at a fundamental weakness in Islam: the claim that Christians went astray in taking a man to be God while they themselves have increasingly done likewise."

Indeed, Islam's criticism of Christianity for humanizing God in the form of Jesus Christ is unfounded because of the way Muslims treat Muhammad. Muhammad, for Muslims, is beyond all criticism. More people can be killed in a jiffy on our planet today for criticizing Muhammad than or criticizing Jesus.

Luckily, the more we talk about these things, the more closed doors (i.e. minds) we will open. People need to realize that criticizing Muhammad will be the most boring exercise in the world for almost any oe. It gets interesting only because some people defend him beyond all reasons.
