"..You will have to explain to me, exactly how consciousness is affected by, if not derived from, the quantum world. ..That, in itself, may take several posts from you.

Yes - you are right - it would take a while to do it justice and possibly I can't do it.. But a short version - all the talk of 'enlightenment' and 'inner light' by sages down through the ages - describes the light of consciousness. People give it various names. It is at the core of and sustains all phenomena. You might be familiar with : "God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all". So this primordial 'light' - is what superstring theory gets close to describing. But back to quantum phenomena and a 'physical' explanation things- transistors in the PC you're using now rely totally on electrons tunneling through 'holes' in semiconducting material. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_tunnelling Similar processes are perhaps occurring in the interchanges in the synapses in our billions of brain cells - allowing us to experience consciousness and therefore existence. . That doesn't really explain much I know - and maybe is at the moment empirically unprovable but it is along the lines of what I think. this is a difficult subject to talk about, because it's bottomless. Physicist Ed Witten said recently that consciousness would remain a mystery - despite it being so fundamental to us..https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/cross-check/world-s-smartest-physicist-thinks-science-can-t-crack-consciousness/

Marvellous thing isn't it - that we are a mystery to ourselves?

"For my part, let me delve into the connection of astrology with superstition..."
Very well written - I can see what you're getting at.

but my first question arose at
".. think of a bar magnet, or armature, spinning inside a circular field: When the pole of the bar is opposite that of the armature, there is an attraction; "

That's all fine - as magnets have a field of force which interacts with a wire conductor and indues emf in it . In your analogy - I assume the cknew things about my life that tonductor is the human psyche - but what is the 'force' ? Is it a form of consciousness as well?
