People's call for establishing secular democracies in Islamic nations

Reader comment on item: Is Radical Islam in Decline?

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Sep 30, 2016 at 22:59

Dear Dr Pipes,

It is absurd that Islamic people and organizations demand democratic rights in non-Islamic countries but do not speak a word against theocracies and caliphates in the countries where Muslims are in majority. Before we can bring cultural and religious changes in the Islamic minds, we, the people of the non-Muslim world, must demand that the existing theocracies in the Islamic world be replaced by constitutional secular democracies. Intangible changes in culture and ways of thinking may take centuries to come about but tangible changes can occur instantaneously. Let me use this forum to make this demand. Let every human of the planet should repeat this demand in every corner of the world. Let us create constitutional democracies in every part of the Islamic world. Let this be a worldwide call.
