God is on the side of the Muslims (for a time)

Reader comment on item: Is Radical Islam in Decline?
in response to reader comment: Can Islam be reformed?

Hi, dhimminomore

Calling the Arab invasion of Egypt "colonialism" (which, of course, it was) is pretty radical. I would guess that the Copts are (quietly) rejoicing, so see someone finally come out and proclaim it.

As for why Islam has had such an "acute" turn towards religious zeal, I think the God of Israel is behind it. In the prophetic part of the Bible, God chides the Jews for not following the commandments given to their fathers, while neighboring nomads assiduously followed their father's instruction. Also, in I Maccabees, we have:

1 Mac 2:
19. Then Mattathias answered and spake with a loud voice, Though all the nations that are under the king's dominion obey him, and fall away every one from the religion of THEIR FATHERS, and give consent to his commandments:
20. Yet will I and my sons and my brethren walk in the covenant of OUR fathers.

The spirit of Mattathias was critical of heathen who abandoned their traditional religion for personal safety, riches and convenience. Likewise, the Muslims see Christians and Jews doing this very thing. While we are abandoning our God, though, they are zealously fighting for their god "Allah" -- as Mattathias did, thousands of years ago, for the God of Israel. In this matter, I believe God is on the side of the Muslims (for a time).
