A coward's grand design

Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Syrian Downing of a Turkish Warplane

Submitted by Nelson D'Silva (India), Jun 24, 2012 at 07:43

Cowardly Erdogan has received part payment for being a traitor to his friends! Turkey treacherously betrayed its long time friend, Israel, to befriend Syria's Assad and Iran's Ahmedijinad in an attempt to back stab Israel on the Palestinian issue. Now, Erdogan, who has been playing musical chairs in the region by blowing hot and cold with regard to the issue of the Syrian civil war, has been taught a lesson by his own kind.

The West should realise that its options are none whatsoever and that it should allow the two past friends and now foes to bludgeon themselves to a pulp. The advantage of such a solution is that there will be two fewer radical regimes surviving to create any further nuisance in the region. It would be foolish for the West to involve itself in a "brotherly" war.
