What Turkey Wants, Turkey Gets

Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Syrian Downing of a Turkish Warplane

Submitted by Beatrix (United States), Jun 23, 2012 at 14:47

Turkey attacked Israeli soldiers during the Turkish flotilla. Even the UN says that Israel was right to defend herself though they say she "overreacted." Turkey, with American approval, has since refused to let Israel sit in on a NATO meeting, and America refused to allow Israel to participate in a symposium on anti-terrorism because of Turkish opposition to Israel.

McCain considers Turkey our most important ally, too. Whether he would take sides, as Obama has, or would try to heal the breach between two allies, I don't know.
