Better Call it a Secular StateReader comment on item: Recognizing Israel as the Jewish State: Updates Submitted by Abdulkarim Al-Habsi (Oman), Sep 29, 2009 at 01:40 First it "Arabs must recognise Israel right of existence", and we were like "OK, you have the right to exist", which is a very lame sentence, its like being told that you have to recognise that the earth is round or something, any way, we tagged along to see where this will end. Now they came up with "you must recognise Israel as a Jewish State", which is a bit tricky, because Israel call itself a secular democracy, we cant go ahead and accept that Israel is a Jewish country now, and then later Israeli government come hounding us for labelling Israel a Jewish state while it is in fact a secular country. We don't decide what religion is practiced in other people countries; we can hardly decide that for our own countries Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
