Why does Israel require recognition from the Palestinians ?

Reader comment on item: Recognizing Israel as the Jewish State: Statements, Actions, Analyses

Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Apr 20, 2009 at 11:27

Mr. Pipes,

Israel is the most advanced nation , militarily as well as economically in the Middle east , Palestinians are a hapless, subject people , conquered in 1967 by Israel.

My question is why even a right-wing leader like Bibi wants recognition from Palestinians ? To me it is like Bill Gates wanting recognition from a beggar in the streets. Kindly answer my question. I will welcome your answers.
