To the extent that the Obama administration thinks it can pressure Israel into serving its version of U.S. interests in the ME at Israel's own expense, the Netanyahu administration needs to push back firmly.
A very interesting situation might develop as Ahmadinijihad, with the Charley McCarthy-like Assad at his side, competes with Obama to be champion of the--Palestinians. Given a choice between the American and the Persian, which will they choose? Two states--or total resistance? I think we can all guess.
Obama is a smart man, but I think he's beyond his depth here and Israelis need to take that into consideration. He needs Israelis possibly more than they need him and eventually he'll recognize that.
