your excellent commentary on the 'exchange'Reader comment on item: Hezbollah's Victory, Israel's Decline Submitted by cal hubbard (United States), Feb 5, 2004 at 13:14 I am outraged at recent developments in Israel. Israel gives up 400 terrorists in return for 3 dead Israeli's and one live one !!!!!It may show the huge emphasis on getting back live and dead Israeli's - at any cost - but the cost is going to mean more dead Israeli's - army and civilians. This capitulation to the integrity of honoring captured Israelis is another example of Israel never losing an opportunity to lose an opportunity. And I say this with deep sorrow because of my love for Israel and the Jewish people. Even if the dead could speak -I dont think they would want this. In a sense, 'the blood of Abel, though dead' cries out ' - 'don't do this!' Too late - it has been done and the consequences will be disastrous, I am afraid to say. While Israel is giving up terrorists - even at almost the same time - a bus is blown up and 10 are dead and 50 injured. How can this go on and how long will Sharon take to respond in appropriate ways? I cannot help but think of Churchill's statement after Chamberlain came back from Germany in 1939 with his famous 'peace in our time' messsage. Churchill said, 'you had your choice between war and shame - you chose shame but you will get war.' Sad to say, Israel is still choosing shame. They are have war, whether they realize it or not. The above is part of a letter I wrote to The Women In Green in Israel and I thought you might like to see my comments as they echo what you are saying. Thanks so much for your stand on these matters and your so well stated and incisive conclusions. Incidently, I wrote this to The Women in Green before I read your article.
