Prisoner swap

Reader comment on item: Hezbollah's Victory, Israel's Decline

Submitted by Jonathan Keiler (United States), Feb 3, 2004 at 11:34

Very good and necessary commentary on this terrible prisoner swap. Most remarkable is the apparent lack of effective opposition to the move in Israel itself. The left opposed the deal on a mere pro forma basis because it was by Sharon's government, but would have backed it had it been proposed by left leaning government. The rest of the country seems to have gone along with little more than grumbling. This will not be missed by Israel's enemies.
