I DOn't Think that it is right to judge people's Islam from our point of view. it is something between him and allah, so if he said that i am a muslim it makes him our brother. maybe as you said he dont give a good view about how the real muslim is .. but you should take into consideration his life b4 becoming a muslim and the society he lived in his whole life.

and remember that once in the very first wars muslims had to get back to makka, one of the prophet's companions was going to kill one of the koffars, but he said the shaehada but the companion killed him cos he thought that he said it only to save himself from the companion sword, and when our prophet know that, he reprove that and told the companion how could he know what inside that man's heart
