I picked up on the error too...

"...if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people...(The Noble Quran, 5:32)"

I believe the translation is a little hard to understand within in the dashes. It threw me off a second too, but it's suppose to be along the lines of "...if anyone slew a person- unless it be because of his(the person being slain's) murder or mischief..."
