Who Will (Or Can) Pay Egypt (Or Anyone) Enough to Take Gaza?

The sight of all those poor starving people crashing down barriers and shooting at Egyptian soldiers in order to buy motorcycles and electronic goods was really heart-rending. It's no wonder the world is aghast at the inhumanity of their suffering caused by Israeli occupation -- uh, non-occupation.

But it is true that the world is full of real horror. Humans, after -- how many millions of years on earth? -- still cannot find ways to settle disputes without resorting to violence and killing each other. That's the fact.

It's cause for oceans of tears.

But when there are so many cross purposes, needs, complexes, compulsions, obsessions -- that nothing makes any sense at all, irony is all that's left as a way to cope with the absurdity and go on. Sometimes it really clarifies things.
