Egyptian takeover of Gaza not an option

I cannot see why Egypt would want to take over Gaza:

the Egyptians know the place is a cess pit and so would not want to have a bar of it -Egypt does not have enough problems already?

Hamas would resist a takeover because that would undermine its powerbase, and

the other Arab states would object - solidarity with the Palestinians etc. The other states would want to maintain the facade of support even though they know that the Palestinians are bitterly divided between Hamas and Fatah, and privately are exasperated with the way the Palestinians are behaving.
