No disrespect toward Dr. Pipes is intended. Mr. Bush is an utter and complete failure.

Dr. Pipes recently wrote that despite his differences with Bush on policy toward Israel, he (Daniel Pipes) twice voted enthusiastically for George W. Bush. Dr. Pipes predicts historians will rate George W. Bush's presidency a success.

No success here; only failure and craven appeasement. Bush, because of his pro-Arab, anti-Israel policies has done more to harm to the stability of the Middle East than any former president, including former President Carter.

Only days after the September 11, 2001 atrocities, Mr. Bush announced his "vision" of a Palestinian terrorist state in the Holy Land. Ariel Sharon's initial response:

"I call on the Western democracies and primarily the leader of the free world, the United States: Do not repeat the dreadful mistake of 1938 when enlightened European democracies decided to sacrifice Czechoslovakia for a convenient temporary solution. Do not try to appease the Arabs on our expense. This is unacceptable to us. Israel will not be Czechoslovakia. Israel will fight terrorism."

I am ashamed that I voted for Mr. Bush in 2000 here in Florida along with perhaps tens of thousands of Muslims in our state, thus handing this compromised personal friend of the Saudi royal family a victory. I do not believe historians will rate this president or his presidency a success, but an utter failure.
