British SchoolsReader comment on item: On New York's "Khalil Gibran International Academy" Submitted by Iftikhar Ahmad (United Kingdom), Aug 7, 2007 at 16:22 Salaam Every child in a British school must learn a foreign language, according to the law of the land. Muslim community would like to see their children learning Arabic, Urdu and other community languages to keep in touch with their cultural roots and enjoy the beauty of their literature and poetry. Muslim community would like their children to be well versed in Standard English to follow the National Curriculum and go for higher studies and research to serve humanity.Muslim community is not asking for any favour. The demand for state funded Muslim school is also in accordance with the law of the land. Muslim community is wel integrated, working for the prosperity of the British society, paying all sorts of taxes and is less burden on the social services.
