The same solution from both sides?

Reader comment on item: Israel's Domestic Enemy

The paper that talks of a "joint homeland" sounds like the solution that came from a son of Palestinian refugees whose book was published just recently. Ali Abunimah, a Jordanian - American, has come up with a similar solution. His book, "One Country: A Bold Proposal to end the Israeli - Palestinian Impasse", suggests Israel, Gaza and the West Bank be made one and that Jews and Muslims share it and build one great country together. He envisions a democracy with equal rights for Jews and Palestinians. He suggests that the two economies are so intertwined as to make separation impractical and that the two-state solution provides no security for Israel.

Listening to him describe his proposal, I couldn't help but wonder how this would in any way benefit Israeli Jews? Demographics would surely render them a minority right from the start. Where is their protection against the likes of Hamas and other radical Islamists?
