Sohail, in your comments, (56371) Sep 18, 2006, you stated the following: "Jesus was the messiah of the Jews. John the Baptist didn't even know who he was."

How then would you explain Matthew 3:13? Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Mat 3:15 Jesus replied, Let it be so now; It is proper for us to do this to fulfill all rigthteousness." Then John consented. If John the Baptist did not know who Jesus was, why did he say that he (John), needed to be baptized by Jesus?
