If you have no idea of the culture then you will not understand. plus in islam the imam does not speak for the koran. but the koran speaks for itself. In islam the imam is just a person who has good knowledge of what the koran it doesnt mean they are always right. Islam dont have a follower like the pope or rabbi. It's up to the indiviual to understand and get the true concept of islam and what it means to that person.
