Religous fanatics...

Reader comment on item: Democrats, Republicans, and Israel
in response to reader comment: Bombing Iran

Submitted by J.S. (Canada), May 31, 2006 at 14:39

I just finished reading an informative article entitled, "Deterring those who are already dead?" by L. Murawiec. The author reminds readers that the current President of Iran is a religious fanatic. Ahmadinejad is "otherworldly" -- he is waiting (hoping for) the apocalytic "end of days" so as to welcome the return of the Mahdi.

So what would bombing Iran's nuclear facilities do? The Mullahs (the fanatics like the President of Iran) who are fanatic believers cannot/will not be "deterred." They'd just re-build. You cannot reason with them either...

About the only hope is to warn Iran about acquiring nuclear weapons -- impose strict economic sanctions, etc. (I really don't think these measures will work)...Then, as a last resort, bomb them...And, here, unfortunately, I'm not talking about just bombing nuclear facilities...It would have to be a "decapitation" war against these regimes... their heads of state, etc. Back to the stone age for them!
