Israel, the loser?

Reader comment on item: Democrats, Republicans, and Israel

In 1948, when Israel was weakest, 600000 Jews pitted against 150000000 Arabs, five armies and an indifferent world, America placed an arms embargo upon the Jewish State. It was strictly enforced, the fledgling embattled state was forced to buy scrap from post war Europe, and survived. Is it likely that now that Israel is tremendous intellectuial powerhouse, with technological resources to match, that it is more dependent on the US than it was in 1948? Superficially, yes. In reality, no.

If America turns its back on Israel, it is likely that back will be stabbed, by the Arabs. If America turns on its Jews, it will quickly become a second-rate power. If America becomes an Arab-Islamo-fascist serf, then kiss the American leadership goodbye.

All this will not happen because the basic support Israel enjoys in the USA is not a military one, it is a cultual, spiritual, almost sibling bond. America was born out of Jewish principles of respectful sovereignty. Into the basic belief in the leadership of the God of Justice and Freedom. it is not the Jewish community which is the mainstay of the support for Israel. it is the Bible Belt and the Freedom Bell and the Sovereignty pillar which are common to the two multi-ethnic democracies.

So unless the Arabs outnumber the true-blue Christians in the USA, Israel will maintain its sibling realtions with the American heart.

Now, lets go get'em together. let's roll.
