Uneasy Circumstances - Alliances Provide No Assurances this Will Not Go Nuclear

Ancient Antipathies are in evidence here and there is no assurance that modern alliances are sufficient to allay deeply help desires of the variant contenders for remnant rights of territorial integrity.
First and foremost example is the supposed reason that Russia gives in exploiting the Ukraine's historical territorical integrity: blame the ambiguities of the Soviet period of overt imperialism under the duress of paranoid delusions of socialistic autocratic dominance in defiance of the peaceful desires of a world edging closer to its own paranoia of being drawn into a war only the delusional want.
This is the shape now being seen.
