Prognosticating Future Actions of Incorrigible Regional Actors

In reviewing Dr. Pipes' somewhat less than optomistic attitudes towards the issues presented here by regional interviewers attempting to get a sense of what to plan for as the rest of the world looks on in anticipation of their own worst fears coming into realization, the question is posed: what could possibbly go wrong; first?
Speculation: Ukraine is a diversion: but what is the real target if the true opportunity is masked?
Syria is a proxy diversion as well; Iran is near nuclear capable by many observations and speculation. Who seems unconcerned; Russia?
America is already compromised: is there really anything the current 46th America Administration can provide in confidence when no one can trust the obvious lack of integrity there? Even American medicine has no cure.
Dr. Pipes did provide one insight that may lead to a conclusion: did anyone else catch it?
