To Allonehhob: Image of God (White Jesus)

Dear Allonehhob,

What does the "image of God" mean for religious people? For Jews and Christians, human beings are made in the image of God. In Quran Allah says it is not true. Muslims do not — indeed, cannot — draw a picture or carve a statue of Allah because We Muslims believe that Allah is unlike any of His creatures.

The image of God or Jesus means a white male for Westerners. Although Jesus is painted as a white person he was from Middle East. He should have dark skin. Christianity couldn't cure racism. Why?, Because it is shaped by people having power on Churches. Jews also painted Moses as white. This indicates that humans have desire to have an image of God. In ancient times kings and queens declared themselves as Gods or Goddesses. In Modern times people can not do that but at least accept themselves having an image of God.

We Muslims even don't know the image of our messenger Muhammed (peace be upon him). We love both Allah and Muhammed (peace be upon him) with our hearts, not with our eyes. We only know the 99 names of Allah, such as (Al-Wadud) Loving one, (Al-Alim) All-knowing, (Al-Basir) All-seeing, (Al-Musavvier) Shaper. Therefore, we know what we must know about Allah.
