wikipedia has new wikipedia pages in the language of Masr (read this as Egyptian Arabic)! It is about time and would Levant Arabic be next?

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?
in response to reader comment: Our dear Md Mohy el-Deen if your Allah is the most reach then why does he ask mere human beings to lend him money and he will pay with in interest rate of 100%?

Dr Pipes,

This is a new addition to wikipedia. It is: اهلاً وسهلاً ويكيبيديا مصري and it already has about 500,000 articles.
And then it makes it clear that the articles are written مكتوبة بالمصري or written in Egyptian (read this as Egyptian Arabic also known as اللغة العامية or the language of the people)!

Very interesting and it is about time that Egyptian Arabic, and it should be called al-Masriyya, is acknowledged as a language very different from the so called Classical Arabic

BTW the sentence اهلاً وسهلاً ويكيبيديا مصري should be in Egyptian Arabic: اهلان وسهلان في الويكيبيديا باللغة المصرية

Why Egyptians should have access to articles written in their own mother tongue Egyptian Arabic? It has been mentioned that Madbouli who used to be the owner of the biggest book store in Cairo stated that any book written in Egyptian Arabic would sell very fast so one hopes that Egyptians would be reading more books and articles as long as they are written in their own language and not in a foreign language called Classical Arabic
