one less dhimmiReader comment on item: Christianity Dying in Its Birthplace Submitted by Sully (United States), Sep 22, 2005 at 20:38 The article was excellent, but as almost always on this site, the comment chain is even more illuminating than the original article.I'm a simple person raised as a Christian but now something of an Agnostic. I observe that in virtually all of the majority Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and more or less secular countries in the world it is commonplace for Muslims to freely build mosques, practice their faith and even prosletyze openly and without fear. On the other side of the coin I observe that a significant minority of Muslims openly calling for my death or subjugation as a second class citizen and that they are encouraged in this by many widely respected so-called religious leaders. I also observe that in virtually all of the majority Muslim countries it is impossible or very difficult for Christians (let alone Jews and those not "of the Book" such as Hindus and Buddhists) to build places of worship and openly practice their faiths. Going further, I note that it is actually illegal in most majority Muslim countries for non-Muslims to prosletyze their faiths or intermarry with Muslims. The artfully constructed rationalizations put forth by Muslims in the comment chain indicate that not even the self considered "good Muslims" are working in any practical way to change this disgraceful state of affairs. I can only draw one conclusion from this. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
