Just empty words ShaziaReader comment on item: Christianity Dying in Its Birthplace Submitted by Walter (Canada), Sep 21, 2005 at 21:39 Once again I wish to compliment you on the occasion of your post to Nasir. Clearly you are a talented, creative and eloquent writer. You remind me of a gifted, educated and talented leader of almost 70 years ago. I am referring to Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister of Britain. In the spring of 1939, he disembarked from an airplane waving a sheet of paper and proclaiming "peace in our time". He had just returned from a meeting with Adolf Hitler. In September of that year, Hitler went to war with Poland and subsequently England declared war on Germany. You too are waving a symbolic sheet of paper and proclaiming "peace in our time". History has proven that nations are prone to making promises that they have no intention of keeping. My suggestion is that we pay more attention to their "track record". The track record of Islam is clearly carved with blood, violence, war, dhimmitude and death in the slate of history of this planet from 630 A.D. to the present. And we would be foolish to listen to empty rhetoric when recorded history tells us otherwise. While your writing is delightful to the eye and soothing to our yearning for peace and, evidence of caring heart, it has absolutely no bearing on the conduct of Muslim leaders who make the decisions. While you are declaring Islamic peace, Imams and Islamic leaders are spilling their bile of hatred and threats on TV and the internet. History and experience tell me to listen to them and not the well meaning ...words of a gifted writer.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
