Using the policy of the major news outlets, interviewing Martin Borman about the planning and execution of the "Final Solution" would have been an appropriate topic of discussion.

You are right in thinking that to sit down with an enemy of common sense and rational dialog is simply a waste of time and only an excercise in making their message known. After all, that's why they are there, to get their rabid message out under the guise of legitimate "debate".
