Reader comment on item: Television in Time of War

I can only comment on the BBC. Newsnight [a classy current affairs prog] has frequently allowed Islamofascists to grandstand in order to create a zoo-like spectacle to boost THEIR [ie BBC] ratings and to give THEM the ego-boost of appearing cutting-edge....for example after the first bombings they had a female Islamist apologist in full black robes - just the eyes visible. A very ugly sight given what had just happened.

The BBC, in particular, seem to have no awareness of the wider implications of their actions. Other contributors on the programme can become tarnished by association.

However, it has to be said that all extremists tend to shoot themselves in both feet especially on TV, where they become ultra-visible. Often the tension in their faces gives the real story away. The more crazy their talk, the more the scales fall from the eyes of the public. At least I hope so.
