Dear Dr. Pipes

Reader comment on item: The Way to Peace
in response to reader comment: What does Palestinian Defeat really mean?

Submitted by Debanjan Banerjee (India), Feb 9, 2017 at 09:06

Hi and wish you a very happy new year.

I have a different take on Palestinian defeat.

I believe Israel needs to play a different trick here.

Until now what Israel has tried against Palestinians i.e. war , assassinations ,subjugation , destruction , deportation , settlements can all be categorized under one single category : punishment.

Over time this particular tactics has lost its edge and is now impotent.

So why not try something new.

I believe the only way Israel can try something new is this. Why not have "One Israel" for both Jews and Arabs.

Why not offer voting rights to those Arabs in Gaza and West Bank ?

Why not make the "One state solution" a reality in space of that "Two state solution" ?

I believe that is the only way for Israel to go.

What do you think Doctor ?

Wish you a very happy and prosperous 2017.

Thanks and regards with best wishes
Debanjan

Taking two people with deep differences and putting them into a single state strikes me as a recipe for disaster.
