Reader comment on item: The Way to Peace
in response to reader comment: It is a global war, Islam against the entire non-Moslem world

Dear Dr Pipes,

Your reader NurtiG's statement that Islam has been at war against all other religions right from its inception and throughout the history. Islamic conquests against the civilizations in Europe and Asia happened with amazing regularity. I would like to remind your readers that within 100 or so years of Islam's birth Muslim armies were attacking Spain in the west and Sindh to the east.

But defeating Islam as suggested by NutriG is an impossible task. How do you defeat a political party with 1.2 Billion people as members who do not even accept that they belong to a political party?

One remedy that I have been suggesting is that the non-Muslim world should demand that Islamic countries should become genuine secular democracies. Any deep changes in Islamic polity and culture must start with a superficial and nominal change. As long as Islamic countries are not genuine democracies they should no be accepted as legitimate nations. And, yes, all non-Muslims must assert the absurdity of the proposition that Muslims want democracy in all non-Muslim countries but do not offer democracy to others in every forum where Islam is under discussion. The only way to defeat Islam is to expose its hypocrisy.
