It is a global war, Islam against the entire non-Moslem world

Though D. Pipes is an excellent scholar on Middle East issues, I offer a longer historical perspective.

Islam did not begin its war against the non-believer with the Balfour Declaration. Back in the late 1700's, Thomas Jefferson was grappling with how to stop the incessant attacks on U.S. maritime ships by Barbary pirates, who were really North African jihadists.

Islam has been at war with the world since its founding AND, the war against Israel is just a single venue in the greater war for Islam dominating the world. And so, ONLY total defeat of the PalArabs will accomplish only one segment of the broader war, get Israel off the grid of perpetual was with the Islamists.

However, without a total defeat of ISLAM, Islam will continue its war against all the non-Moslems and that includes Israel, no matter how many defeats it suffers in this single venue. It is the supremacist ideology that is at the root of Islam that needs to be totally defeated in ALL of the venues where it exists. Islam must go through reformation from the deepest roots up. And as we see today, that is a global war requirement the non-Islamic world needs to take up, if it is to survive. Israel is just a small isolated venue for this world war and a strategy for winning needs tone seen on the larger canvas of TOTAL WAR OF REJCTION this evil ideology.
