Reader comment on item: Weak Brits, Tough French

Submitted by Robert Williams (United States), Jul 13, 2005 at 23:10

I too am worried about the attacks on democracy and the weakness of cultures that are overly permissive of anti-democratic rhetoric and pro-Islamic Radicalism.

When I was in India (1940-1945) I made friends equally with Muslims and Hindus and had no problems. Just after I left India the Muslim/Hindu rioting started and I was saddened by it. Then came the splitting of former India into Pakistan, India and Bangladesh and then the wars between India and Pakistan and I was even more saddened because I loved India and was happy for the Indians when they gained Independence and chose a democratic form of government.

Now we have this terrible crusade by radical Islamists to take over the world by infiltration and murderous terrorism. If I were not 76 years old I could join the American armed forces as I did during the Korean war, but now the only thing I can do is keep informed and try to persuade my fellow Americans to wake up and UNITE against terrorists. The United Nations should be the organization to provide this unity but it is too corrupt. Perhaps a second International organization should be formed specifically to lobby against the terrorists.

Sincerely, Robert Williams
