Repudiation

Reader comment on item: What's a Conservative to Do? Vote for Pence

Submitted by Paul Rothberg (United States), Oct 18, 2016 at 17:25

Giving the power of the Presidency to a person with a child-like intellect is dangerous. In addition Trump's candidacy has encouraged racists of all stripes (e.g. David Duke), even if he did not intend to do this. I think it is important that Trump not just lose, but be thoroughly repudiated. That way the Republican Party can be freed from Trump-type politics and rebuild as a legitimate conservative alternative to the Democrats.

Electing a President Trump, even if he is rapidly impeached and removed from office, would whet the appetite for power of Trump-like politicians, and rip apart the Republicans in the process.
