Similarities in Israel

Reader comment on item: Does Europe Have No-go Zones?

Submitted by Steven Sherman (Israel), Jan 21, 2015 at 06:04

I would like to point out that here in Israel we unfortunately have a similar situation as pertaining to some Arab areas. The police tread lightly before entering these Arab localities. They are often met by violence and often a large force is needed to stop the violence, such as at Rahat dung the last few days. Jews who enter these localities (in Israel) may be attacked. I hope that we are not approaching semi-autonomous zones as they could well lead to autonomous zones.

This naturally is a matter of concern which I am unsure that the politicians (from the left as well as from the right) will address as is needed

I have visited, among other places Baqa al-Gharbiya, Umm al-Fahm, Jaffa, eastern Jerusalem, Nazareth. I had no troubles in any of these places.
