Neocon versus paleocon

I haven't seen a formal definition. I don't know that the press have one. But from the context of many articles, compared to paleoconservatives, neoconservatives are more proactive on defense and more receptive of welfare statism.

I can't see a good reason to link the two, so I reject the term. Bogus package deal.
