From frying pan to the fire;

Reader comment on item: A Neo-Conservative's Caution

Submitted by Goerge Frankl (United States), Mar 9, 2005 at 14:38

GWB's view of democracy is shallow and primitive. He fails to understand that the mechnical aspects of democracy can open doors to worse tyrants than the ones being replaced. Look ar post-Soviet Russia,a fascist dictatorship based on feudal fiefdoms,run by robber barons and gangsters.The Soviets have been removed,but what remains is just as ugly and undesirable for the people of Russia as the old Soviet system.

The people of the Middle East have no experience with democracy,the Rule of Law and a fair and inpartial justice system.Freedom of speech,religion,freedom of assembly are unknown in Arab countries.Islam is not only a religion,but a way of life that can not and will not be altered by tricks and gimmicks.

The task of educating the masses in the ways of democracy can not be accomplished overnight.
