The Big Question

Reader comment on item: [The Search for Moderate Islam:] A Reply to Lawrence Auster

Both of these perspectives have merit. There have always been moderate Muslims and there have always been Unchanging Fundamentalists. The Question is which group wields the most power? Which group is willing to Slit the throats of the Opposition? Which group has the most weapons? When the Fundamentalists show up at the moderate mosque with the AK-47s, which side will prevail? Most vocal moderates over the years have met a horrible death. There are 1.2 Billion Muslims in the World. They can easily be controlled by a few Million Active Vocal Fundamentalists with the right weapons and enough enthusiasm. All countries, civilizations, and cultures are controlled by a very active, forceful, vocal, and in many cases well armed, minority.
