Reader comment on item: Female Desire and Islamic Trauma

Submitted by Marie-Amelie Dupont-Beart (United States), May 25, 2004 at 22:30

Dear Dr. Pipes,

Reading your interesting article made me realize what is happening recently to a friend of mine who thinks she is in love with a Muslim man, who seemed to be also in love with her, but all of a sudden has almost stopped contact with her. She couldn't understand, but reading your article -which I have made sure to give to her- I think I understand what was going on. My friend seemed very passionate about the guy, and it seems to me that by being too much in contact with her he could have been 'contaminated' with her passion. But, yet again, doesn't that also happen with Western men. Go figure!

In any event, thank you for this wonderful, passionate piece, a great food for thought.

Yours,

Marie-Amelie
