Why pussyfoot around Islam?

Reader comment on item: The Voice of America, Silenced on Radical Islam

I thought that only India was afflicted with the disease "Islamophilia". Couple of days back, Varun Gandhi, a young politician and grand son of former PM Mrs. Indira Gandhi, swore that he would cut off the hand that would be raised against a Hindu. The spate of condemnation that errupted in the media, government and political circles would give one an impression that Varun Gandhi had committed mass murders. Of course, he has not yet chopped off anyone's hand! He merely said so. This is the degree to which Hindu politicians are afraid of committing even slightest real or perceived offence to the Muslims. Barring to Muslim leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party, not a single Muslim leader has condemned Varun Gandhi's statement. People who are nominally Hindus are themselves doing this job for the Muslims. This is the degree to which Hindu psyche has been emasculated by Islamophilia in India. Muslims are laughing all the way to their Mosques.

Apparently, US of A is also not immunised, notwithstanding 9/11 experience. One wonders what compels governments, media and intellectuals to do an egg-shell walk when it comes to any unpleasant reference to Islam. Why pretend that nothing is wrong with Islam, when the person directing such niecities is all too well aware of the ugly face of Islam and its protogonists. It is not as if American society, politics and economy are beholden to the Middle East or for that matter any Islamic country. Why not call the spade a spade? Is this Mubarak Hussein Obama effect on the USA? This was how cleansing of Islam's terrible past commenced in India, and see where this has lead India to! If USA emulates India in this manner, time will not be far away when the Americans have to fear the Muslims amidst them.
