Reader comment on item: Muslim Taxi Drivers vs. Seeing-Eye Dogs
in response to reader comment: Coming from an american!

Submitted by Marcos Berenstein (Brazil), Apr 24, 2007 at 10:36

I'm a Brazilian citizen and always thought Haloween was a ridiculous American tradition, as the hateful baseball and your so-called 'football', but nonetheless if I were somehow driven to live in America, I would ADAPT myself to the local culture, including eating turkey to remember the first British pilgrims in America, something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with my Jewish heritage. This I call respect. I respect Christmas as well, even without taking any part in it. I wouldn't dare do criticize it.

People who do leave their countries in order to live in America must learn their traditions and respect them in order to adapt. Those muslims who wishes to avoid needless confrontation with their newly adopted neighbors must see dogs as anyone else,l oving them.

By the way, I do love dogs and I HATE those who happen to dislike 'em.
