The Supremacy of the Law

Reader comment on item: Muslim Taxi Drivers vs. Seeing-Eye Dogs

Submitted by Jacob Silver (United States), Feb 18, 2012 at 12:21

It is illegal for anyone operating a public conveyance or a public restaurant or bar to refuse anyone who is legally assisted by a registered seeing eye dog, or a guide dog assisting one who is subject to seizures. The attempt, particularly by Muslims, that they are (falsely) barred by religious reasons from obeying, is absurd and illegal. If an individual feels he or she cannot perform a service because of his or her interpretation of his or her religion, that person is not required, and, under the circumstance, cannot be employed in the service. In the United States, Canada, and Britain we obey the law, and we cannot allow anyone with some personal excuse, be it religious or otherwise, to disobey the law.
